BANKERS HANG TEN
Aloha! Ukuleles, flowered shirts, leis, Don Ho, information, festivities and genuine Hawaiian spirit were all an integral part of the IBC’s 29th Annual Convention held Thursday – Saturday, September 12 – 14 in Copper Mountain, Colorado.
More than 350 attendees rode wave throughout the IBC’s three-day extravaganza. Thursday began with the annual golf tournament and opening reception. The first night of exhibits was awesome with more than 50 exhibitors displaying their products and services throughout the three days. Friday began early with an ICBA Mortgage dawn buster session facilitated by Elizabeth Deal. Jeff Gerrish’s, Gerrish & McCreary, keynote address on the Ten Essentials for Community Banking was thought provoking and a must hear for community bankers. Attendees then had the choice of attending two out of four breakout sessions. Topics included: Creating the Entrepreneurial Banker presented by Ted Rosen, Expert Business Development; Maximize Net Interest Income and Expand Your Core Customer Base, Mitchell Epstein, US Banking Alliance; Benefits, BOLI and the Bottom Line, Rich Bratten, Clark/Bardes and The Impact of Check Fraud Technology, Calin Sandru, ASD. Each session provided invaluable information and received great reviews. While all this was going on for the bankers, the spouses and guests had a fabulous time learning about how take the perfect picture at the photography 101 session. Dale Leighty, Chairman, CEO and President, The First National Bank of Las Animas also shared the stage and his experiences as he makes his way through the ICBA chairs. Industry experts: Brad Leach, Intrado; Melinda Casey, FBI; Robert Williams, Secure Logistix, Allan Turner, Office of Preparedness and Security; and Randy Schartz, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City held the audience captive during the afternoon homeland security panel discussion.
