MICHAEL VAN NORSTRAND
Michael Van Norstrand serves as the Executive Director of the Independent Community Bankers of Colorado (ICBC), a non-profit community bank membership organization dedicated to the promotion, advancement and preservation of an independent community banking system in Colorado.

Michael is an attorney with over 30 years in practice, almost exclusively as an in-house corporate bank counsel and executive for community banks. Besides banking law, his diverse experience includes contract/transactional, real estate, employment, bankruptcy and general business law as well as executive experience developing, implementing and overseeing strategic business planning and overall small business operations.

As a professional with a longstanding background in community banking, Michael understands that community banks are the backbones of local economies; the strong relationship between a community banker and their client is essential and invaluable.  Community banks are committed to their Main Street, not Wall Street, and are uniquely locally knowledgeable and nimbly situated to quickly assess, craft and customize each customer’s individual solutions with varied and innovative financial products and services. Michael is an ardent believer in community banking, which is why he now advocates as Executive Director of the ICBC.
