On July 11, 2020, Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed legislation, House Bill 1415, prohibiting employers, and entities that annually contract with five or more independent contractors in the state, from discriminating, retaliating, or taking adverse action against any worker who:
  • Raises any concern about workplace health and safety practices or public health emergency’s practices fail to meet federal, state, or local public health agency guidelines for the workplace; or
  • Voluntarily wears their own personal protective equipment (PPE), such a mask, face guard or gloves, at their workplace if it provides more protection than the employer-provided PPE or is recommended by a public health agency.
